Comfort & Joy - Happy 2018
A very happy new year to you all! I hope you were blessed with good food and precious moments with kith and kin. In the season of festive events and visiting friends and family, we are busy making merry that we forget to take the time to take care of us.
The winter months are prone to introduce colds and flu, so I've taken the opportunity to share with you my trusted flu-fighting power drink. When I feel under the weather or want to boost my immune system, I make this and feel so much better. Full of healthy ingredients, it's the perfect warming cup to end your stressful day back at work or your busy weekend. Plus it's packed full of healthy, healing ingredients.
Lemons - High in vitamin C, lemons are a beneficial aid in boosting the immune system.
Apple Cider Vinegar - Created from the fermentation of apples to make apple cider, this vinegar has healthy acids and bacteria that help in a variety of areas, including digestion.
Honey - Full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, it serves as a natural form of antiseptic and has often been used as a traditional form of medicine.
Sarah's Flu-fighting Power Juice
Makes 1 mug
1 heaping tsp. honey (raw honey is great, manuka is even better)
Juice of half a lemon
1 TBS. apple cider vinegar
Combine all the ingredients in your mug and top up with boiling water. Stir to dissolve the honey.
*Healthy extras: Try adding some freshly, grated ginger, turmeric or a few drops of hot sauce to add some spice. Give the flu something to run from!
