Kindred Suppers - Workshops Edition
One rewarding thing this past month has been the few workshops we've provided for people who want to learn a new skill or cuisine. These workshops are part supper club, part interactive teaching in a small and intimate group. I was thrilled to be able to share my love of cooking on a more personal scale and loved all the fun it has created for clients! Little opportunities such as these, where people can take these skills into their own homes and kitchens, is a key feature of Kindred Suppers and I am so proud of those that have been part of it this summer.
In June we offered a Polish Pierogi supper club, where we taught a small group how to make Polish dumplings, both baked and boiled, before sitting around the table together for supper. It was an absolute joy to do something a bit different and to expand into a more intimate and hands-on environment for Kindred Suppers. Have a look at all the fun we had below!

Bread Making Workshop
I also had the privilege to create a customized bread making workshop for a private client's birthday. We made a few different types of bread (both yeast and quick breads) and finished it off with a healthy lunch that I provided on the day. Something that was extra special was the chance to show that bread doesn't have to be complicated and can easily fit into a busy schedule if you allow it.
We started off with something that could easily fit into a few hours. I also gave them a science lesson or two, like how to make their own buttermilk in a pinch! We talked about the different types of flour and observed the difference each batch had in texture, crumb and absorption. It wasn't just about baking, but knowing why things happen with different environments and ingredients. My favourite comment of the day was how civilized it was for them (think relaxing!), and how all Saturdays should include bread making and eating lunch in the sunshine.
I wholeheartedly agree.
If you like the idea of a workshop to whet your appetite for something new and exciting to bring to your kitchen, then let us know!
As you may have seen from a previous post, we are moving across Lancashire to the Ribble Valley! Big changes ahead for Kindred Suppers as we settle into our new HQ in Clitheroe. Though we will be taking a short recess for the summer, we do hope to get back into the swing of things in the near future.
